Welcome to Bergrivier Association for Persons with Disabilities (APD)

Based in the picturesque town of Velddrif, nestled between the Berg River and the West Coast of South Africa, we opened our doors in 2002. Our organisation is dedicated to empowering persons with disabilities to reach their full potential.  We provide comprehensive services to persons with disabilities up to the age of 65, residing in the Bergrivier Municipal Area, including the areas of Velddrif, Wittewater, Redelinghuys, Eendekuil, Porterville, Piketberg, Goedverwaght, Dwarskersbos, and Aurora.

Our commitment is to support individuals with disabilities in our community, helping them to lead fulfilling and independent lives. Through our range of services, we aim to make a positive impact on the lives of those we serve.

We provide training, income generation opportunities, and support services to enable persons with disabilities to participate in the open labour market and become self-supportive.  Our programmes focus on social integration, development, and instilling a sense of purpose and pride in our members.

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower persons with disabilities to take the lead in their journey towards independence.  We collaborate with individuals, families, and communities to break social and institutional barriers and foster an  inclusive social development.

Through supportive services and advocacy, we strive to create an enabling environment where persons with disabilities can thrive, reach their full potential, and actively participate in shaping their own futures.

Our Vision

Envisioning a harmonious and inclusive Bergrivier community where diversity is celebrated, and all individuals, regardless of their impairments, are valued, empowered, and united in their pursuit of equality, opportunities, and fulfilment.

“ I have been taking my laundry to Bergrivier APD Laundry for approximately 15 years now, generally once a week, and I find them to be highly organised and efficient. I am always met with smiles, a willingness to help me in any way, and the laundry comes back spotlessly clean and perfectly ironed.”
